When should I start reading to my baby?
From day one. Even though newborns can’t see well, your voice is the most important thing. Start with high-contrast black-and-white board books, transition to touch-and-feel at 6 months, story books at 12 months.
How many books does a baby need?
4–6 cloth books for 0–6 months, 8–10 board books for 6–18 months, 15+ picture books by age 2. Library borrowing covers variety; buy the favourites that get re-read.
Are e-books OK for babies?
Paediatric guidance (AAP, RACP) recommends no screens under 18 months. Physical books develop fine motor skills, page-turning sequencing, and don’t emit blue light. Stick with paper for under-2s.
