Best Baby Prams & Strollers in Australia: 2026 Buyer’s Guide
A pram is the most-used piece of baby gear after the cot. Get the wrong one and you’ll feel it every single day for two to four years. Here’s how our team thinks about pram shopping in 2026, with picks available on Amazon AU and Amazon US.

The single most important rule
- Check it folds into your boot. Take a tape measure to the dealer. We’ve seen new parents buy beautiful prams that simply don’t fit in their car, and the resale market is brutal.
- AS/NZS 2088 (AU) or ASTM F833 (US) compliance. Imported strollers without proper certification aren’t legal to sell.
- One-handed fold. You’ll be holding a baby with the other hand. Test in the shop, every time.
- Suspension — if your footpaths are cracked, brick driveways or pebble paths (basically all of suburban AU and US), front and rear suspension is worth the money.
- Newborn lie-flat capability — either via a true bassinet attachment or a fully reclining seat. Babies under 6 months should not be sat upright for long stretches.
The picks — reviewed in detail
BABY JOY High Landscape
Lie-flat bassinet mode for newborns, jogger-style upright for confident toddlers. Storage basket fits a full nappy bag and a Coles shop, anti-shock front wheels handle most footpath nasties, and the canopy is genuinely UPF50+.
Bopeep Foldable Stroller
If your main use case is “runs to the cafe” rather than walking holidays, a lightweight stroller saves money and back pain. Folds compactly, half the weight of a convertible, and the absorbers are surprisingly good for the price.
Thule Urban Glide 2
The bench standard for jogging strollers in both markets. Hand-brake, lockable swivel front wheel for off-road, and the full Thule build quality. The price tag is real, but if you actually run with the pram, nothing else feels this stable.
Joovy Caboose Sit and Stand
Tandem stroller with a rear bench/standing platform for the older sibling. Better than a side-by-side double for narrow footpaths and most shop doorways. The older child can hop on or walk as they like.
GB Pockit+ Travel Stroller
Folds to handbag size — small enough to fit in an overhead bin without the airline making a fuss. Not the pram for daily heavy use, but for trips and Ubers it’s magic. Holds up to 25 kg.
What we’d skip
- Second-hand prams without service history. Brake mechanisms wear, fabric covers degrade, internal frame fatigue is invisible.
- “Aluminium-frame” ultra-lights under $200. Tubing is too thin and most fail under realistic toddler load.
- Travel systems with car-seat adapters from a different brand than the pram. Rarely fit as solidly as marketed.
